Driving to Portugal

As an alternative to flying, an increasing number of clients choose to drive to Portugal. As roads continue to improve, the journey becomes easier and you can comfortably reach the Algarve in just 3 days. If you would like further advice on suggested ferry crossings or overnight stops, please ask when you make your booking.

Taxi transfers

If you are intending to reach your villa by taxi, we strongly recommend that you use the services we provide. Local taxis are sometimes cheaper but our taxis and drivers are always fully insured and are familiar with the locations of our villas. All taxi prices quoted are for a one way journey from the airport to the villa or vice versa.

Essential Information

Beware of other so-called bargain car hire prices; most companies ask for a SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE BOND, an extra insurance premium on collection of the car or airport taxes. If you have an accident you risk losing the bond. We cover the extra collision damage insurance premium, so our clients don't have to lodge a large sum of money overseas or on their credit cards or pay for extra insurance to avoid this. Auto Jardim simply ask our clients for a petrol deposit, which is returned on the spot, if you take your car back with a full tank.

We have arranged that our clients may take their hire cars to Spain AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Please let us know when you book the car if you wish to do so and we will make all the arrangements for you as the car hire company has to be notified in advance to arrange the necessary paperwork. [read more]

Flights

We can book flights on your behalf but we have to charge a fee for doing so. You may prefer to book your own flights in order to obtain the best price. Bear in mind that unless the airline you book with has an ATOL licence you will not be covered in the event of the airlines insolvency. Although we charge a fee, in the event of either the airline, or our insolvency, you will be covered by our licences. When booking flights please remember that you will not be able to occupy the villa before the time stated on the villa description and in all cases will have to vacate at 10am on your final day. It is also worth noting that if you arrive early and depart late you may be charged for an extra day's car hire.
