The Algarve has twenty one, full 18 hole courses, as well as three 9 hole courses. They are all of excellent quality, and several are championship courses. In 2005, the November World Cup Golf Tournament is being played at one of the newest courses, the Palmer-designed Victoria Course in Vilamoura. Golf guides have voted the two year old Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima sister courses as some of the best value golf in southern Portugal. The Lisbon courses, about a two and a half hour drive from The Algarve, are also available for booking through our golf partner MacGolf

Tee times are discounted by approximately 20% on the public rates, so there is a good saving to be made by pre-booking your rounds. There are also some summer specials, two players and a buggy, over the July August and September periods which are excellent value. Bookings can be made for singles or large groups, and MacGolf can assist in arranging family golf lessons while Dad gets a round in!

Peak golf times of March, April and October are booked up well in advance, so we strongly suggest that if you wish to play at those times, that you book as early as possible.

From Bouquets of Flowers to Catered Dinner Parties – In the Comfort of Your Own Villa

If you have any special requests, please ask us and we will try our best to help. For example, we can arrange cakes and flowers for special occasions, or organise a catered party at your villa. Whilst it is fun to find and sample restaurants when on holiday, many of our clients prefer to eat in during their holiday. Whether this is a catered dinner party with formal staff, an informal buffet with hot and cold dishes or even a pain-free barbeque where the whole family can simply relax in the certain knowledge that the food will be cooked to perfection and will not turn out to be charcoaled remains. We can arranged a variety of events for our clients including wedding receptions and surprise parties and can take care of all manner of extra services. For example, Champagne, cakes, balloons, DJ’s live entertainment – even kiss-o-grams! Prices vary depending on the size and type of event so please ask for a quote for your particular requirements. It is also possible to tailor-make a dinner party for a surprisingly low cost, so it is an affordable holiday luxury! Simply contact us with a brief outline of the type of catering you require, plus your holiday dates. It is worth noting that for special occasions it is often more cost effective to arrange a catered event, taking into account the cost of wine and transport to and from a restaurant. Sometimes it can be difficult for restaurants to cater to large groups and often there is quite a wait for everyone to be served - this is, of course avoided by dining in your villa; it also means that no-one has to worry about the drive home!

A Boat Trip and Scuba Diving on Rei Pescador

A wonderful way of exploring the coastline is to take a private boat trip on Rei Pescador with local fisherman, Saul. A three hour trip on a 10metre cruising/fishing boat Rei Pescador (Kingfisher) with a local fisherman, Saul. Cruise along the coast and through the caves to see the best of the coastline with your own group. Powerboat Charters and Sailing

Whether it is a sporty speedboat for a day’s fun and water-skiing, a luxurious motor yacht to impress family and friends, or a stylish sailing yacht to catch the summer breezes, a day on the water will be a day to remember. Southwest Charters have a full fleet of sail, power and sports boats for half day, full day and week charter.A typical day trip would involve leaving Lagos marina at 10 am, heading west towards Sagres and Capo de São Vincente, stopping for a swim along the way. Then returning east and either anchoring for a gourmet lunch on board or mooring at a restaurant. The afternoon can be spent sailing, or motoring along the coast, enjoying all the delights of the Algarve, from dramatic cliffs to long sandy beaches to quiet coves, with the breeze cooling you down as you go. Return to Lagos at 5pm for a drink in the marina and stay to watch the sun go down behind the old town, planning your next trip on the water.
