This villa has been built into a hill of white marble, which internally has been exposed in various rooms. Built on three levels there are floor to ceiling windows positioned to take full advantage of the extraordinary views over the Lucca hills to the city centre. The owners are both famous architects and the villa really is the result of their expertise and vision. Almost everything has been designed specifically for the villa from furniture, lamps, sculptures and the white marble runs through all three levels of the main villa. The villa has an opening roof with two wings which open to thirty degrees, like butterfly wings! This allows natural ventilation to cool the house and creates a magical atmosphere – you can literally sleep beneath the stars in the comfort of your luxury bedroom! The property is set in 10 hectares of olive groves and woods located on the nearest Lucca hills, 200m above the city and just a ten minute drive.
The accommodation is in two parts; the main house and a separate smaller building (referred to as the Dependence). The architecture in both units is bright and totally in harmony with the setting. There are carefully designed iron shutters which provide shade in the summer and catch the light in the winter months. The kitchens in both the main house and the dependence are fully equipped with dishwasher & TV’s.
Outside the villa has many unique features, one of which is the infinity swimming pool – it measures 26 meters in length and has an area of 70 square meters with a whirlpool. It consists of 16m designed for swimming, a play area and a hydro massage. The views from the pool area are as breathtaking as from elsewhere on the property. There are various sculptures and design pieces in the grounds. Access to the villa is through a 500m gravel road and along the main road the maximum width is 2 metres.
The swimming pool will be available for use between June 1st and September 30th, at other times of the year the property is rented without use of the pool.

It is not surprising that Tuscany and Umbria are the most popular destinations in a country full of popular destinations! There are SO many reasons to visit the regions; from the simply but stunning local cuisine and wine to the rolling landscapes, from the medieval cities such as Lucca, great architecture and monuments in Pisa and the beautiful hill towns like San Gimignano. There really is something for everyone. Lucca is located at the foot of the Apuan Alps and is less than half an hour from the Tuscan coast. There are so many traces of it’s ancient history, from the footprint of the Roman amphitheatre to the archeological remains under the 12th Century church of Saints Giovanni and Reparata and the various towers and villas dating from the 12th to the 16th Centuries. Amazingly, as Lucca grew the city walls remained, which is not the case for many of the cities in Tuscany.
