New ‘Limited Mobility’ Filter for Inclusive Villa Experiences

Committed to making villa holidays accessible for everyone, this new filter is a significant step towards ensuring that every guest can enjoy a villa experience tailored to their unique requirements.

“I am so proud of the launch of our ‘Limited Mobility’ filter. Ultimately, my motivation to finally get this done was my friend, Laura.
Laura and I have been friends since we were in our 20’s. We have shared so much together; weddings, babies, karaoke! A few years ago, Laura discovered that her first born, Freddie, had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). For those who are not familiar with it, DMD is a degenerative muscle condition that causes muscle weakness and wasting. Over time, Freddie’s needs have changed and developed from not being able to walk long distances, to not being able to manage steps, to not being able to walk a single step. At each devastating stage, Laura and her family were confronted with new challenges which they faced with unfathomable strength and a positive attitude! They did not always need an ‘adapted’ or accessible villa like they do now. For a long time, the main requirement was simply a property with a bedroom and a shower room on the ground floor with minimal or no steps in the living areas, at the entrance or to the pool area.
So THIS was the starting point for our ‘Limited Mobility’ project. We have been through every single house in our portfolio and highlighted those that have these features as a bare minimum.
We have so many requests from clients who are travelling with an older person who can’t manage steps, or someone recovering from an accident who might have a temporary walking aid, to those who are travelling with someone who is completely wheelchair bound. Everyone’s needs are unique but our limited mobility filter is the perfect starting point for them to filter properties that might just work for them. Many villas can be temporarily adapted by hiring additional equipment like shower chairs or commodes for example which immediately opens up more options for these families who may think that there is nothing suitable out there for them all to enjoy and be comfortable.
I recently had an enquiry from someone whose daughter is in a wheelchair and was looking for a villa for her family. She started by saying ‘thank you’ for the Limited Mobility filter which made it so much easier for her to find a villa for her family. She doesn’t know this, but she made my whole year! It has been such a huge project, but she has now found a villa for her family to look forward to and I am thrilled that all the effort we put in was worthwhile.

What Does the Limited Mobility Filter Mean?
When you select the ‘Limited Mobility’ filter on our website, you will be presented with properties that have a bedroom and shower room on the ground floor, with little or no steps in the living areas or to the swimming pool/garden. We understand that everyone’s needs differ, therefore we encourage you to check with us at the time of booking to ensure the suitability of the property for your group.
It’s important to note that this filter does not imply that a villa is ‘wheelchair friendly’. We know that some clients may require additional information, such as door frame widths, so please feel free to reach out and we’ll provide the details you need.
Special Equipment and Assistance
Understanding that some guests require specific equipment and assistance, we can also help with hiring special equipment to temporarily adapt a villa for certain needs. For example, it might be possible to hire a shower chair, commode, walking aids, ramps or mobility scooters on request. Your well-being is our priority, and we aim to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
