Villa Erini, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Property ref: CR935

Maximum: 8 adults plus 3 child/children

Set amid olive groves, vineyards and citrus orchards, Villa Erini sits at the front of Orašac village, just 12 kilometers west of the magnificent Dubrovnik Old Town. Its clean-cut, modern lines are in contrast to the surrounding rugged slopes and the quaint ambiance of the village. The villa is just a short ride from the Arboretum Trsteno, which featured on Game of Thrones, and even closer to Dubrovnik Sun Gardens Resort – perfect for a spa day or use of the private beach.

Historically this area was beloved of Dubrovnik aristocracy who had summer estates set in elaborate gardens. In the 16th Century, the clean air of Orašac also attracted the Florentine elite.

The villa has fragrant Mediterranean gardens and a tucked-away terrace lounge with a barbeque and swimming pool. The east-west orientation of the villa ensures long hours of sunshine and wonderful sea views from the front and bedrooms. The ground floor is open-plan with the bedrooms on the first floor, there is also a roof terrace with panoramic views.

The villa has clean lines and bold details with a Mediterranean feel; bright artwork and hand-picked furniture created by renowned regional designers inspired by the colour palette of Dubrovnik’s 20th Century artists.

The main living accommodation is bright with a lovely wooden dining table to sit up to twelve, the living area has stylish designer sofas and armchairs and the kitchen has top-quality appliances for keen cooks, alternatively a private chef can be arranged. The ground floor seamlessly transitions into a private terrace with the swimming pool beyond which has unique black and white tiles, there are sun beds and a barbeque.

The unique central staircase in the entrance foyer leads to the first floor. Each bedroom is en-suite and has a private balcony. With high ceilings and plenty of space the bedrooms can accommodate up to three extra guests on pull-out sofa beds. The front facing rooms have beautiful sea views while the side rooms overlook the village. Each room has a TV.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik, in the extreme south of Croatia was proclaimed by Lord Byron to be the Pearl of the Adriatic. It really is a special place with magnificent marble streets and baroque buildings glistening in the sunshine. The main pedestrian area is lined with cafes and shops and has magnificent monuments at either end. The architecture is amazing with churches, monasteries, and museums and although Dubrovnik was badly damaged in the siege of the early 90’s, restoration has been painstaking and it is almost impossible to imagine that there was such extensive destruction. Beyond the city are the gorgeous beaches, densely wooded peninsulas and the turquoise Adriatic dotted with lush islands.

There are some great shops including many designer brands and while wandering through the streets you will hear a variety of sounds from the various street performers from Dalmatian vocal groups to chamber music and the magnificent setting of the Rectors...

Palace hosts some of the worlds greatest classical musicians which during the Summer Festival the city’s squares turn into pop-up theatre venues. There are numerous art galleries and for the more energetic some good nightclubs. The restaurants and cocktail bars mostly have amazing views, either out to sea or across the beautiful city.

Once you tire of walking the Dubrovnik cable car takes you to Mount Srd which has the most magnificent views of the city. Or you can take a boat trip and see Dubrovnik from the sea and visit some of the numerous islands. The Mljet National Park is a must for nature loves as is the island of Kor?ula, the birth place of Marco Polo. Lokrum (The Island of Love) is close to the old city, this magical place is steeped in history and legends. The cuisine is excellent with Dalmatian smoked ham, cheeses, smoked meat and stews along with pastas and local lamb.

The world's second longest wall (after the Great Wall of China) is the wall of Ston, the small town famous, among other things, for shellfish and in particular oysters. On the road to Ston is the Arcadian Trsteno Arboretum, where one of the most beautiful women of the European Renaissance, the red-haired poetess Cvijeta Zuzori? wrote her rhymes. Take a walk under the crowns of ancient trees and see your reflection in the Neptune and Nymphs Fountain. The Pelješac Peninsula is the best-known wine-growing area in the south of Croatia, where you can enjoy the typical Plavac Mali wine and truffles.
