Ocean View, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Property ref: CR949

Maximum: 10 adults plus 2 child/children

Sitting on the edge of the Adriatic, Ocean view is the ultimate in comfort and is just a ten minute drive from Dubrovnik Old Town. The villa is set in the exclusive Lozica area and Elaphites, Mljet, Korčula and Pelješac are all easily accessible by car or boat.

The villa has been cleverly designed to take full advantage of the unique location and to enjoy the fabulous views of Daksa Island, Grebeni rocks and the turquoise sea.

The interior is simply amazing, with Swarovski chandeliers and Persian rugs, art and sculptures by famous 20th century artists - each detail was carefully selected to create a sophisticated, yet homey atmosphere. Marble flooring extends throughout the communal areas, making the house delightfully cool in the summer months. The bedrooms have floors made of Croatian oak to add a touch of warmth, while the bathrooms are also in marble.

There is an elegant foyer, with an impressive floating staircase leading to the ower level. A few steps from the foyer is an office, although with views like this it is hard to imagine getting any work done! Next door is a fully equpped fitness room.

There is an elegant sitting room, complete with 60“ TV and doors that open onto expansive terraces with top quality furniture overlooking the infinity pool. There is a state of the art kitchen, with a custom made table for twelve, the kitchen is, of course, fully equipped.

There are five bedrooms in the villa and two more people can be accommodated on the pull-out sofa. Three bedrooms are on the west side and there are two separate guest suites on the east – secluded and perfect for older children or those who would like extra privacy.

The master bedroom is quite exquisite, with works of one of Europe's most renowned artists and sleek decor. The bathroom is just stunning, with Onyx floors and walls and a roomy massage tub by the front window; guests can enjoy a morning bath whilst watching the dolphins playing in the sea. This bedroom is designed for open living, there are no doors separating the bathroom from the rest of the bedroom.

The bedroom next door has the same amazing view from it's Jacuzzi bath and again is open plan with no doors separating the bathroom and bedroom.

The bedrooms on the east side are spacious with subtle decor in neutral colours, accentuated by bright pieces of art. Each of these rooms has its own shower room.

Sunbathing and swimming are a special experience at Ocean View, a stone staircase descends all the way to the sea and stone pier, dotted with lounge chairs, there is also a boat dock. There is outside dining for twelve people.

Although the property is close to all facilities its elevated position means there are quite a few hills so a car is recommended.

Due to the open staircase, different levels and infinity pool, this is not considered suitable for very young children.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik, in the extreme south of Croatia was proclaimed by Lord Byron to be the Pearl of the Adriatic. It really is a special place with magnificent marble streets and baroque buildings glistening in the sunshine. The main pedestrian area is lined with cafes and shops and has magnificent monuments at either end. The architecture is amazing with churches, monasteries, and museums and although Dubrovnik was badly damaged in the siege of the early 90’s, restoration has been painstaking and it is almost impossible to imagine that there was such extensive destruction. Beyond the city are the gorgeous beaches, densely wooded peninsulas and the turquoise Adriatic dotted with lush islands.

There are some great shops including many designer brands and while wandering through the streets you will hear a variety of sounds from the various street performers from Dalmatian vocal groups to chamber music and the magnificent setting of the Rectors...

Palace hosts some of the worlds greatest classical musicians which during the Summer Festival the city’s squares turn into pop-up theatre venues. There are numerous art galleries and for the more energetic some good nightclubs. The restaurants and cocktail bars mostly have amazing views, either out to sea or across the beautiful city.

Once you tire of walking the Dubrovnik cable car takes you to Mount Srd which has the most magnificent views of the city. Or you can take a boat trip and see Dubrovnik from the sea and visit some of the numerous islands. The Mljet National Park is a must for nature loves as is the island of Kor?ula, the birth place of Marco Polo. Lokrum (The Island of Love) is close to the old city, this magical place is steeped in history and legends. The cuisine is excellent with Dalmatian smoked ham, cheeses, smoked meat and stews along with pastas and local lamb.

The world's second longest wall (after the Great Wall of China) is the wall of Ston, the small town famous, among other things, for shellfish and in particular oysters. On the road to Ston is the Arcadian Trsteno Arboretum, where one of the most beautiful women of the European Renaissance, the red-haired poetess Cvijeta Zuzori? wrote her rhymes. Take a walk under the crowns of ancient trees and see your reflection in the Neptune and Nymphs Fountain. The Pelješac Peninsula is the best-known wine-growing area in the south of Croatia, where you can enjoy the typical Plavac Mali wine and truffles.
